::2024/04 update: The hotel has undergone another refurbishment and now targets 5 star quality and prices. You notice improvement in several areas: the furniture in the pool area, the playground, the quality of the amenities, the tableware, among others. The Panoramic restaurant was the highlight of this reopening. A few things were changed, but in all the spirit of the place (70s and 80s style and décor) was maintained. The hotel management has changed and, with it, staff too. Where once the warmth of the staff stood out, now one witnesses arrogance and lack of training. International debit and credit cards are not accepted. This is unacceptable in a five star hotel. We tried 8 different cards from 4 different banks and none worked. Staff said it was a problem with the signal, but other clients paid with local debit/credit cards. 2022: Designed by the French architect Olivier Cacoub in the 70s and 80s (the tower), this hotel in the administrative capital of the Ivory Coast, is a superb building and example of the monumental architecture this country houses. Some areas, like the lounges and corridors, are a time-capsule, meaning you get a glimpse of how things were 40 or 50 years ago. Rooms seem to have been refurbished, but still have that 70s and 80s feel and charm. The tower has an amazing cantilevered restaurant with a 360° view of Yamoussoukro, which, at the time of our visit (2022) was closed. The hotel, as a result of having been built in two phases, has two entrances and lobbies. We stayed at the hotel twice, once in the 80s building, the other in the 70s one. There are slight differences between these, like the mirrors on the wardrobe doors, but nothing very significant. The marble bathrooms could do with a little improvement, as the drain in the bathtub was not working properly and there are few places to hang the towels. The hotel has a SPA, a disco, (not sure these are open), a swimming pool, some shops, and a restaurant. Staff is helpful. If you are an architecture or an interior design enthusiast and don't need all the perks of a 5 star hotel, you will definitely want to stay here. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a hightech 5 star hotel, this is not the one.

::The restaurant has impeccable service, delicious food/drinks, and they accept credit/debit cards. One of the few places in Yamoussoukro that ticks all three boxes!

::Came here for brunch. It was decent, but nothing to the standard of top hotels in Abidjan. I was a bit disappointed as there was not much variety of dishes. However, the food (e.g., the guinea foul kedjenou) was flavorful. The restrooms are a no go because the smell is horrible.

::There was a power outage on that day with no running water. I wasn't expecting such place not to have a generator!

::Iconic, was built with the best of materials which makes it stand out. Food is fine, lovely environment, with international service, very disciplined staff and friendly service. I forgot my phone in the restaurant and the hotel was able to locate it and keep it for me, I was highly impressed
